Tommaso Lampedusa is a successful lawyer with a family of two teenage children. At one point, while driving, he writes a text message and, instead of sending it to his wife Chicca, sends it to Chiara, the wife of his best friend, Gino, a long-time divorcee. Chiara believes Tommaso is in love with her and wants to pursue a secret relationship. She immediately reciprocates his interest and begins to seek out every opportunity to spend time with Tommaso, eventually becoming obsessive. This leads to a series of misunderstandings and subterfuges between the two, resulting in various complications. Eventually, it is discovered that Chicca, too, has been having an affair with Gino for twenty years.
