Therese first appears at the cathedral with other nobles praying for the city of Paris. She seems to be interested in Count Odo because of his importance but mostly because of his rejection by Princess Gisla. She mentions a husband of which she claims to be more interested in drinking than in her. Therese works to support her brother Roland's goal of usurping Count Odo's position as the emperor's right hand man. She becomes Odo's lover in order to spy on him on behalf of Roland. She doesn't bat an eye when Odo introduces her to his BDSM dungeon and seems quite into it. But later she is shown to not actually enjoy it at all and is only pretending to so she can seduce Odo.
